Dear Families, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are thrilled to welcome you to a new school year at MS 839! We are a brand new PTA executive board, of mostly rising seventh graders, who were so inspired after an incredible sixth grade year at MS 839 that we joined the PTA to support this magical school, so staff and students can thrive. Whether your child (or children) may be new to the school or returning to a higher grade, we look forward to a very exciting and promising year with them. We also want to clarify that, while our name specifically says \u201cparent,\u201d anyone who is a guardian<\/strong> of an MS 839 student is already a member of the PTA<\/strong>. Together we will help each other to accomplish the aspirations of our families and the vision of our school and community.  This year, one of our PTA goals is to get more parent engagement on our PTA that reflects our school\u2019s diversity in cultures and languages and represents who we are as a school. We are specifically looking for some native Spanish and Bengali speakers to join our PTA, so please consider!  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ways to get information and stay involved: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

PTA General Meetings: <\/strong>We will host PTA general meetings every 3rd Thursday of the month unless there is a holiday or a school event, please come!  Look for announcements about upcoming meetings and other school events in your email and through talking points.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

*If you have not already done so, please share your email with our Parent Coordinator (and in September with your child\u2019s Crew Leader) to opt in to PTA emails<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will also be launching crew and class parents<\/strong> in 6th and 7th grades and will be creating Whatsapp groups for each class for more accessible communication. Please contact us if you are interested in being a class parent<\/strong> and be on the look out for an email or a communication through Talking Points, about how to sign up for those Whatsapp groups. These groups will be formed by the first day of school, when you get your child\u2019s crew and class assignments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ways to Contribute: <\/strong>The PTA raises funds for expenses at the school that serve all students. Please be on the lookout for our 2026-2027 Annual Fundraising Appeals. Please know that you are a critical part of our MS 839 community and there are SO MANY ways you can participate: Attending school EVENTS (potlucks, dances, PTA meetings); VOLUNTEERING for an event or committee; DONATING to fundraisers; and most importantly doing the nonstop but rewarding work of PARENTING. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
